The events took place on Avenue de Luxembourg, near a large shopping centre. Friday’s attack took place just a few metres away from a similar robbery in November 2021.
As a result of the strong explosion, debris was thrown into the air and a fire broke out. The fire brigade quickly arrived on the scene, extinguished the fire, and secured the area. No one was injured.
The public prosecutor’s office was informed and asked the judicial police to go to the scene to collect traces and open an investigation.
In this context, the police are looking for witnesses who can provide information about the perpetrators, the direction in which they fled, and the vehicle used, a white Alfa Romeo Giulietta.
Anyone who has seen anything in this regard at the shopping centre on Avenue de Luxembourg in Bascharage at around 2.45am on early Friday morning is asked to report their observations either via the police emergency number 113 or by e-mail to spj.rgb@police.etat.lu.
