Each year, Wiltz hosts a festival known as the Gënzefest ("Broom Festival"), which honours a yellow flower bush that grows on northern Luxembourg's hills. With around 4,000 visitors according to Mayor Patrick Comes, this year's edition was described as "a day like something out of a film".
The mayor shows pride in the fact that the tradition has been maintained for so many years and that it has earned the town recognition throughout the country, and even beyond, with people returning to Wiltz every year.
In total, 32 different groups, floats and brass bands took part in the parade. Not all participants were Luxembourgers; some had even made the trip specially from abroad, as Ferid Hodzic, president of the Wiltz tourist office, confirmed to RTL, rejoicing in the opportunity to celebrate this tradition on Whit Monday.
