The state court sentenced a man, who was caught drunk driving in May, to pay two fines and to a 21 month long driving ban.
Six months ago, the accused, who did not show up for his hearing, had driven his van the wrong way down a one way street. When a police officer approached him, he accelerated and drove over the officer's foot, only slowing down a few metres later.
The driver had an alcohol level of 2,08. His final sentence will fall on the 18 November.
