The Economic Committee has approved short-time work applications from 50 businesses, affecting a maximum of 2,442 employees.
The committee, presided over by Minister of Labour Marc Spautz, met on Tuesday morning. Among other items on the agenda, members assessed short-time work applications submitted for the month of May. Of the 58 applications received, 50 were approved.
However, approval does not always lead to implementation, as demonstrated by the figures for January 2026, which were also reviewed on Tuesday. For that month, short-time work applications from 49 businesses had been approved, but only 31 ultimately implemented the measure.
