A quarter of Eltrona customers were left without internet access on Thursday morning, though the issue has since been fully resolved.
The telecom provider confirmed in an email to some customers that a significant outage had affected its network. According to CEO Bart D’Olieslager, an important line was damaged during a planned intervention on the Eltrona network, leading to the major disruptions.
Eltrona stated that while three quarters of its network in Luxembourg were affected, only 25% of its customers experienced actual service issues. Those impacted were disconnected between 10.20am and 1pm, after which services were gradually restored. The company assured that the problems have since been completely resolved.
Eltrona apologised to affected customers and emphasised that lessons have been learned from the incident in order to better protect the network from similar issues in the future.
