The City of Luxembourg has announced the start of the summer sales, in particular the special Sunday opening of shops in the city centre and around the train station on 30 June and 7 July. But why head to the city on Sunday instead of any other day?
All of the city bus routes (1 to 33) and some RGTR routes are free to use and running regularly. The same counts for the tram. So you can head to the city without spending a single cent, no parking stress, and best of all, it's better for the environment!
However, if you're planning a big shopping spree, you may want to take your car to carry all your bargains home. Where to put it while you're perusing the aisles, though...?
Help is at hand in the form of the Schuman car park, the Stade, and Howald Park + Ride, which will all be free on Sunday and are served by a number of buses.
But if these aren't convenient enough, there's always the City Shopping Bus, which goes from the city centre to the Glacis car park every 7-8 minutes.
A reason which will dissuade some, but encourage others... Sunday is predicted to have warm, sunny weather, with Météolux forecasting temperatures between 32 and 35°C.
If that has you sprinting for the ice cubes, there's always the opportunity to shop in the morning, when temperatures will be a mere 19°C. Grab your sale bargains early and spend the afternoon topping up your Vitamin D levels, or hiding in a dark room, whatever floats your boat.
Obviously this is a question of taste, but nothing tastes better than a delicious brunch to give you a boost before facing the sales. Or, if you've followed the above advice, a tasty brunch might be just the ticket to replenish your energy after the morning shop. Two birds, one stone!
