The old François Valentiny-designed dock was pulled down in Schengen two years ago and replaced by the new one, which was inaugurated on Thursday. The new pontoon is designed to be safe and accessible to all.
Mobility minister Yuriko Backes described the new pontoon as commemorating a "defining moment of European history", while also offering new generations access to "this extraordinary cultural heritage".
The new pontoon forms part of the redevelopment of Schengen museum and the "Princesse Marie-Astrid Europa" boat for the 40th anniversary of the Schengen Agreement.
Minister of Tourism Lex Delles commented that the inauguration of the dock means the "tourism offer in Schengen is now complete".
