SpeedmarathonOver 2,600 motorists caught speeding in Luxembourg

Around 2,637 motorists were caught speeding across Luxembourg during Wednesday’s nationwide Speed Marathon operation. The campaign, which took place on 15 April 2026, saw police carry out nearly 288 speed checks over a 24-hour period across the country.

In total, 300 fixed-penalty notices were issued, including 166 fines of €49 and 134 fines of €145, the latter also carrying a deduction of two penalty points.

Five driving licences were confiscated at the scene due to excessive speeding. A further two licences were withdrawn in connection to drink-driving offences.

In addition to these cases, both mobile and fixed speed cameras recorded a further 2,637 speeding offences during the operation, including 406 detections by fixed cameras and 2,231 by mobile units.
