Police carried out a speed check on Thursday on the N11 between Wolper and Echternach, where they recorded 55 drivers exceeding the speed limit. The permitted speed on this stretch is 90km/h. Of those caught, 35 motorists were driving up to 20km/h over the limit, while 20 exceeded it by more than 20km/h. In only one case did the police have to confiscate a driving licence on the spot.
In addition to speeding, officers issued several fines for other offences, including motorists failing to carry their driving licence or not displaying a valid road tax sticker.
On Friday morning, police set up a speed control on the Route de Luxembourg in Dippach. During the operation, officers stopped a motorist for speeding. A motorcyclist following behind failed to anticipate the stop and crashed into the rear of the slowing car. The motorcyclist was injured and taken to hospital. Further checks revealed that the motorcyclist did not possess the required licence for the vehicle he was riding. The public prosecutor's office ordered the motorcycle to be seized.
