The driver in question, whose car is registered in Germany, reportedly threatened pedestrians, before recklessly driving off. Authorities in Mertert passed the information on to their colleagues across the border, who quickly found the car. In fact, the driver had caused an accident in Trier shortly after. A subsequent check by local authorities showed that the man had been driving under the influence of alcohol and prohibited substances.

Shortly after midnight, Luxembourgish police noticed another careless driver, this time close to Mersch on the N7. This was another case of drunk driving, which led to the driver's licence being revoked.
A fight was reported the same evening around 8 pm on Place d'Armes in the capital. One of the people involved in the brawl had to spend the night sobering up at the police station.
