A attempted robbery escalated into a violent assault in a store on Place Guillaume in Luxembourg City on Sunday evening at shortly before 7pm. The suspect, who had allegedly attempted to steal items from the premises, turned on staff when challenged, injuring a security guard’s hand with a syringe.
A police patrol arrived swiftly at the scene, where officers seized both the syringe and the stolen items. The suspect was subdued and taken into custody on the orders of the public prosecutor’s office, before being brought before an examining magistrate on Monday morning.
The injured security guard was taken to hospital for examination, with particular attention paid to the risks associated with a syringe injury. The investigation remains ongoing as authorities work to establish the full circumstances of the incident.
