Following a tip-off from a reader, RTL contacted the Grand Ducal police, who confirmed a robbery at a tobacco shop on Rue de la Libération in Dudelange in the early hours of Saturday morning.
Details remain limited as the investigation is still ongoing, a police spokeswoman confirmed in response to our request. The incident took place shortly before 5am. A reader had indicated that a saleswoman was allegedly assaulted during the robbery, though police were unable to confirm at this stage whether any staff members were harmed, and referred further questions to the prosecutor’s office.
A separate incident is also under investigation following a robbery in Luxembourg City’s upper town on Friday evening. According to the police bulletin, a woman was directly threatened by several individuals at around 10.20pm and had her wallet stolen. A search for the alleged perpetrators was launched but proved unsuccessful. Investigations into both cases are ongoing.
